You don’t have to go far from your doorstep to see that our society is in trouble. Our current Oscar presentation was an indication of this. With infamous Hollywood celebrities advocating particular environmental causes, global warming and equality of sexes, race and religion,or the lack there of. But what about our health? No body seemed to address that issue.Especially, when in the last few years there have been stories showcased in movies creating awareness about mental health for example. I want to ask you this question, does your poop glide and slide or is it a severe strain every time you want to evacuate. If it’s the latter then perhaps it may be the colon, the passage of nutrient absorption and elimination, that might be the problem. Your poop tells more about you than what you think.If you strain , grunt and groan or worse still have trouble just getting to the throne then you may have serious complications down the road.
This passage from the mouth to the other orifice is more or less just a tube that miraculously breaks down food and fluids that we take in one end and release from the other. If this gets clogged or there's a missing link, there could be loads of health issues including bowel disease, immune dysfunction , a bright red rash appearing from time to time and curiously, mental health. In having said this then let me explain a few things to eliminate confusion and why our ever growing waistline and other neurological disorders are on the rise in our world.
There is so much confusion when it comes to what should we do to remain healthy today.So many products and different answers in relation to what may be good for us . We live in a world of information at our fingertips yet sickness and ill health is on the rise . What we are doing is not quite working .You see it may not necessarily be the food that you eat that is causing you problems but the fact that your body is not able to absorb and food is not acting in accordance with the natural ecosystem. It’s a fact that too many supplements in some instances provide very expensive urine!
When you are born the human colon is rapidly colonized by gut microbes, however what if the pregnancy has been compromised with a diet that is high in trans fats, carbohydrate laden foods that ferment predominately to sugar with a lack of elimination. Gut microbes act as environmental factors that affects that persons physiology and metabolism and unfortunately can be related to obesity and other metobolic disorders.(1)Therefore we can conclude that the gut microbiota is a potential nutiritional and pharmaboligcal target in the management of obestity,obesity related disorders ,immune health and mental health.
Whilst there is sufficient evidence that show that nutrients influences the qualititative change in the composition of gut microbiota ( prebiotics) the gut microbes induce a wides variety of response within the intestinal mucosa which controls the guts barrier and interestingly enough , endocrine functions. Hormones! Not again. Yep, and we women know the effects of hormonal dysfunction only too well. Prebiotics are food ingredients that escape digestion, reach the large intestine and selectively stimulate the growth and/or activity of bacteria that are believed to be beneficial to health, such as bifidobacteria and lactic acid . Gut microbes influence the metabolism of cells in tissues outside the intestines , predominately in the liver and adipose tissue ( fat) and thereby modulates lipid and glucose homeostasis as well as systemic inflammation.
A solution is and Rule 101 to better health is to take a good probiotic .
Evidence from experimental animal studies and now in humans consistently indicate that probiotics exert barrier-enhancing, antibacterial, immune-modulating, and anti-inflammatory effects, which all could be benefits in small intestinal bacterial overgrowth,intestinal failure and a link to neurological disorders including depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism parkinsons and the big one colon cancer.
So what comes first the probiotic or the prebiotic. Use food first in its rawest forms, combined with some easily digestible proteins and healthy fats, then use a great probiotic with multiple strains of Bifidobacterium and lactobacillus. I choose a practitioner only blend. A multigenerational broad spectrum probiotic that has a combination of 9 scientifically proven strains. What this means to you is that they all work synergistically to proliferate a dynamic flora of the gastrointestinal tract that has immune protective effects. By taking a probiotic combined with sound nutritional eating you may be able to control some of those other hormonal issues.
